SEN Teacher – Kettering

This caring and committed school is recruiting for an experienced, reliable, and personable SEN Teacher to assist in joining their school in Kettering. This school caters for students aged 7-16 with a range of special educational needs including ASD, Downs Syndrome, and speech and language difficulties. They aim to help young people with learning difficulties to develop their full potential through their policy of encouraging equal opportunities for all. They create a welcoming learning environment that encourages educational development to the highest possible level, whilst building students' talents, abilities, self-esteem, and understanding. ABOUT THE ROLE
1. Implementing group and 1:1 interventions that support the emotional, physical, and behavioural needs of children with ASD, DSD, and SLD.
2. Implementing PSHE lessons and overseeing the allocation of staff for such lessons. Responsible for monitoring the performance of these lessons and the functioning of the school.
3. Developing a co-operative and harmonious relationship with parents, colleagues, and students.
4. Attending weekly reviews with SENCO to assess the student’s academic and social progress.
5. Working collaboratively with parents to enable them to be equal partners in their child’s education through open dialogue, parent programmes, training, and shared aims for their children.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
1. Must have teaching experience in SEN and PHSE.
2. A flexible, resilient, and committed individual with a strong passion and experience teaching children with SEN.
3. Ability to offer a range of teaching, learning, assessment, and behaviour management strategies.
4. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a range of partners, including LSAs, parents, colleagues, and multi-agency professionals to meet students’ needs in a holistic way.
5. Support the school’s vision and ethos of respect, nurturance, and compassion.
