This band 5 position offers an exciting opportunity to work within the Cath lab (cardiac investigations unit) at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.
The job is based at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington however the successful candidate may be expected to work on other hospital sites, for this reason driving is desirable.
The job role includes working within the cardiac investigations unit to provide safe and high quality nursing care to patients who require a variety of cardiac diagnostic investigations including elective angiography, stress echo and trans-oesophageal echo.
The cardiology department also implant pacemakers, complex device therapy (ICD/CRT) and implantable loop recorders.
We offer a bespoke training programme designed to provide you with the core skills required as a nurse within our cardiac investigations unit.
There will be opportunity to rotate between Ward10 and the coronary care unit if the successful candidate wishes to gain more experience in cardiology.
Completing patient pre assessment prior to invasive cardiac procedures.
Preparing patients for their procedure ie cannulation and IV drug administration.
Assisting consultant cardiologists during the procedures.
Working with cardiac investigations MDT including Cardiac Physiologists and Radiographers.
Post procedure recovery, providing discharge advice and follow up.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.
To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
