What Does a Mechanical Design Engineer Do?
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be at the heart of designing cutting-edge machinery, including conveyors and associated components. Your role will involve:
Using SolidWorks to create detailed 2D and 3D designs of components, sub-assemblies and full systems.
Developing designs that meet BS:1672-2 standards for hygiene in the food industry.
Conducting site surveys, gathering specifications, and translating client requirements into practical designs.
Creating detailed technical drawings and ensuring seamless communication with manufacturing and installation teams.
Designing layouts that focus on efficiency, safety, and compliance with health and safety standards
The successful Mechanical Design Engineer Will Bring:
Expertise in SolidWorks, including sheet metal design and generating accurate Drawing Exchange Formats (DXFs).
A strong foundation of manufacturing processes like CNC cutting and press brake operations.
Experience in conducting surveys and transforming sketches into comprehensive designs.
Knowledge of food industry hygiene standards (desirable but not essential).
Familiarity with SigmaNEST or similar software for CNC programming is a bonus.
Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and teams.
