About this opportunity
We are looking to hire a Production Manager, reporting to the Plant Manager, based at our recently built site in Peterborough, UK.
This is an incredible opportunity to join Crown Peterborough as the site becomes more established following its opening in 2023.
The Peterborough Plant is dedicated to beverage-can manufacturing with state-of-the-art technology capable of producing upwards of a billion cans per annum. The Peterborough Plant is a key site within the Crown Bevcan Europe & Middle East division. The Plant operates 24 hours per day on a continuous shift system, 360 days per annum and employs over 200 people.
As leader of the Production Engineering Team, you will improve all standards of the manufacturing processes in relation to quality, cost, and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities
• Setting up and exhibiting high standards for influencing behaviours to drive and support a culture of excellence across the team in daily activities, as well as in continuous improvement projects
• Exceed the Plant’s KPI targets with focus on safety, product quality, line efficiency spoilage, and raw material usage
• Ensure effective communication at all levels whilst providing up-to-date information and feedback to relevant parties
Required Education and Qualifications
• Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject
• Industrial / Mechanical Engineering background
Required Knowledge and Experience
• At least 5 years’ experience in structuring and leading Production teams in a manufacturing environment
Beneficial Knowledge and Experience
• Good knowledge of Statistical Process Control methodology
• Lean Six-Sigma certification
Required Skills and Competencies
• Proven record of communicating clearly and concisely at all levels
• Demonstrable logical approach with high level of problem-solving and effective decision-making skills
• A self-starter and an effective team player with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Hands-on approach when necessary, combined with an excellent knowledge of high-speed production requirements
• Demonstrable People Management skills
