Ref: 000287 Salary: 23,114 - 23,893 per annum (Grade 2) Hours: 36.66 per week, full year Contract: Permanent The Governors of Stanley Road Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and hardworking Caretaker to be part of our dedicated staff team. The role is varied, and the successful candidate will support the Site Manager with the effective day to day operation of the school. You should: Be highly motivated Have good communication skills Be capable of working to schedules and also on own initiative Be able to balance regular health and safety checks with daily cleaning, record keeping and maintenance Have basic DIY skills and a practical aptitude for general building and grounds maintenance Have an awareness of health and safety matters and a willingness to undergo appropriate training where needed Enjoy working in a school environment Be able to liaise with contractors and manage external maintenance contractors Be flexible for the needs of the children and school Duties will include cleaning, security including opening and closing of school, minor repairs and maintenance as required, lifting and carrying, liaising with external contractors, conducting regular health and safety checks as per the schedule including fire alarm checks and the legionella draw through. Previous caretaking or site management experience would be an advantage. During School holiday periods, there is flexibility to work different shift patterns to suit external works booked in. This would be discussed and agreed in advance. Personal holidays would need to be taken out of term time. The will, on occasion, be a requirement to work additional hours to cover events outside of normal school hours. These will be communicated well in advance. The role is varied, and the successful candidate will support the site manager with the effective day to day operation of the school. The effective opening/locking up of site and maintenance of the school buildings, premises and associated resources will be a key aspect of this role. The successful candidate must demonstrate a willingness to be flexible in their approach.
