About the Role
The successful candidate will ensure Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is addressed in all areas of our hospitals, community sites and mobile facilities.
The Infection and Prevention Lead will advise on infection prevention throughout the established business including new builds and refurbishment. We are looking for someone to work with the Director of Clinical Services to design an annual program, that is aligned to the HCAI code and CQC regulatory requirements.
We are looking for someone who can:
* Be a key implementer of the business Infection Prevention and Control programme
* Develop IPC links at Hospital level and support Hospital Managers in implementing audits, reviewing compliance and action planning as a result of any non-compliance
* Reporting and updating the Clinical Governance Committee
* Advise the senior management team on any new developments in the Infection Prevention arena & Infection Prevention Society UK
* Ensure risks of infection are identified throughout all hospital departments and disciplines and risk assessments are in place reflecting controls that are reviewed at least annually and as otherwise indicated.
* Ensure local infection control policies reflect corporate policies, writing local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as appropriate, and liaise with departmental heads to ensure these are implemented.
* Ensure all staff have appropriate IPC training using a combination of online and face to face.
* Implement and maintain a continuous hand hygiene improvement programme.
* Be a core member of the Clinical Governance Committee.
What you’ll bring to the role:
* A current registration as a healthcare professional
* Experience within a similar role
* Experience within Ophthalmology and Endoscopy is advantageous
* A full driving licence and use of a car for national travel
* Ability to produce reports
* Good track record of identifying and resolving infection control issues
* Able to organise and chair meetings and committees
* Able to set up, develop and deliver training on IPC
