Localization Quality Manager, AGI - Data Services

The Amazon General Intelligence Data Services (AGI-DS) organization is engaged in data processing to support generative, large language AI models. The Alexa service is always getting smarter, both for features, and for natural language understanding and accuracy. Amazon is seeking a Localization Quality Manager to join our AGI-DS organization. This role focuses on quality assurance for localized content across 12 locales.
The Localization Quality Manager gathers quality requirements from internal stakeholders, builds and maintains style guides, and organizes quality audits, to ensure localized content is accurate, fluent and suitable for use.
Key job responsibilities
1. Define quality strategies for various content types that balance effectiveness and frugality.
2. Collaborates with stakeholders to pinpoint content areas that have the most issues with the highest impact, designs quality programs to systematically address and prevent such issues in the future.
3. Provides regular quality data to vendor management, helps qualify new vendors and disqualify under-performing vendors; provides style guide training for vendor onboarding and up-skilling.
4. Creates and manages language assets, including Translation Memory, Term base, and Style Guides; conducts cleanups and updates to maintain asset quality.
5. Acts as main point of contact and escalation for all ad-hoc quality initiatives and customer escalations to Localization.
6. Trains, coaches and mentors Localization Specialists.
A day in the life
The Localization Program manager leads quality audits pre- and post-publication to inspect localized content, then produce relevant datapoints to internal stakeholders. They work with Localization Specialists when a language specific task or issue arise. They may interact with scientists regarding the quality strategy or requirement for an upcoming project. They may work with operations stakeholders to understand whether the localized content is serving the users. Each day is different, and there are always new challenges to tackle.
About the team
The AGI-DS Localization team is the owner for all non-English content used AGI-DS wide, which includes guidelines, workflows and training materials in 12 locales. This content empowers data associates across the globe, to perform data labeling, and generate model training. We also help drive strategy on multilingual LLM and Gen AI expansion with the translation, localization and adaption of datasets used for model training. We sit across multiple sites, with presence in the US, Europe and Asia.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor degree in translation, interpreting, languages, foreign language teaching or a related field; preferably a masters degree in the same.
2. Excellent understanding of Localization quality mechanisms, principles and best practices.
3. Native, or native-level fluency in any of the below languages: German, Dutch, French or Italian.
4. Speak, write, and read fluently in English.
5. Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams.
6. Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements.
7. Experience defining and executing program requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience in driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
2. Experience leading process improvements.
3. Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization.
4. Experience building processes, project management, and schedules.
