The role of Retention Support Officer involves working with students to provide early intervention support in the areas of wellbeing and welfare, and to be a point of contact for students who are care leavers.
The post holder will:
- have experience working one to one to identify support needs
- have experience working one to one to provide emotional support and guidance
- have experience making referrals and working with internal and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support is in place
- have experience building and maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholders
- have experience working with sensitive issues in the areas of mental health and welfare
- have experience delivering university wide events and campaigns to raise awareness in relevant areas
- take a compassionate and thorough approach to supporting others
- have excellent organisation and time management skills
- able to work independently and part of a team
Although the role is generally 100% on campus, there may be opportunities for hybrid working for particular activities.
For these positions, we will consider both full time and part time appointments.
Hours to be agreed with the successful candidates.
The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory DBS disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of our clearance procedures.
Please be advised that due to the minimum salary thresholds imposed by the UKVI, this post will not qualify for University sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route.
