Newmark offers a comprehensive Placement Year programme for students pursuing a RICS accredited degree. This full-year, paid placement is based in London and provides an immersive experience in Surveying, gaining experience from day one.
As a placement student, you’ll be integrated into a specific team for the entire year, working closely with senior professionals and gaining hands on experience that contributes towards your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) post-graduation. We provide training days to further develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits to assess properties, gather data, and contribute to valuation and appraisal processes.
- Engage in research projects, analysing market trends, property values and other relevant data to support client advisory services
- Assist in the preparation of detailed reports, including appraisals and appeals, ensuring accuracy and clarity in presenting findings and recommendations
- Ensure that all collected data and prepared reports detailing survey results, findings and analyses for clients or senior surveyors
- Actively participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance understanding of industry practices and develop core skills such as communication, planning, problem solving, teamwork and networking
- Work closely with a team of surveyors to ensure effective project delivery and foster a collaborative work environment
Required Skills
- Studying a RICS accredited degree
- An active interest in the built environment
- Flexible and self-motivated with a real desire to deliver excellent customer service and strong client relationships
- Proactive approach and a desire to continually learn and develop
- Organised, efficient, able to use your initiative and work to tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with an eye for details
