This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
I am looking for a support worker to take me out and help me access activities and sessions, for 6 hours per week in the school holidays. I am 6 years old and have Autism, developmental delay, and social communication difficulties.
I have a cheeky personality and big brown eyes; I enjoy being around my peers and familiar adults. I am inquisitive and like to explore the environment, needing an adult to keep me safe when out as I don’t understand environmental dangers.
I have favorite toys and enjoy playing with jigsaws, blocks, books, and in particular, my tablet while watching The Paddington Bear show. I love running, jumping on the trampoline, playing, and exploring outside. I am very sensory and enjoy tactile activities such as paint, water, sand, gloop, and bubbles, seeking out sensory experiences like lights and water.
I need someone to help me stay safe in the community and at home. Sometimes I can get frustrated and throw objects or refuse to go places. I need someone who is patient, fun, and will help me experience new activities. I can become easily frustrated when I don’t understand what’s happening, so I need someone to keep me safe both outside and indoors. It is important that you support me with my independence, personal care, and nappy changing.
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, and applicants must be able to transport themselves.
