Introduction
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production processes, ensuring efficient and effective operations, and meeting production targets. This role involves managing a team of production staff, coordinating with other departments, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.
Job key performance areas
1. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the organisation.
2. Oversee daily production operations to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
3. Manage and lead a team of production staff, including training, development, and performance management.
4. Coordinate with maintenance, quality control, and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient production processes.
5. Monitor production metrics and implement corrective actions to address any deviations from targets.
6. Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
7. Prepare and present production reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
8. Manage production budgets and control costs to achieve financial targets.
9. Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished products.
10. Address any production-related issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Qualification
* B-Degree (NQF 8/10) in Engineering and preferably completion of a Management Development Program.
Skills and Experience
* 6 years' relevant experience, preferably in an industrial environment.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in a managerial role.
* Knowledge of both production and maintenance functions.
