About the Role
Practice Plus Group is one of England’s largest independent providers of self-pay, insured and NHS healthcare. Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth has a CQC Good rating and provides excellent healthcare to the population of Plymouth and the south west region, including Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and all of Devon. We are an elective surgical centre providing arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy, and cataract surgery.
The clinical services include Outpatients, Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Ward, Theatres, Endoscopy suite, Radiography, Physiotherapy, and Pharmacy, with care provided by a multidisciplinary team.
The Physiotherapy Department of 10 staff provides outpatient services including pre-assessment, post-operative rehabilitation, Joint School (pre-operatively), post-op knee group, inpatient services which include mobilising patients following surgery, teaching rehabilitation exercises, and supporting the ward nursing team and discharge team to ensure safe discharge and ongoing care and support.
What you'll be doing
Key tasks:
* To lead and run Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU) outpatient clinics under the supervision of orthopaedic consultants.
* To undertake assessment and treatment of all hand patients following their surgery, liaising with the orthopaedic consultant as needed.
* To partake in pre-operative assessment of patients with complex equipment needs to facilitate safe and effective discharge planning.
* To provide clinical leadership and management in the absence of the Physiotherapy Manager, with support from the Deputy Heads of Department.
What we’ll look for in you
We are looking for an experienced band 6 / band 7 physiotherapist who is keen to work as part of a wider MDT, leading a specific part of our physiotherapy service as outlined in the key tasks summary.
You will need to demonstrate advanced MSK diagnostic and treatment skills, be able to work within the MDT, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
* Physiotherapy Degree or Diploma
* HCPC registration
* CSP membership or equivalent professional indemnity cover
* Substantial experience in a senior physiotherapy role band 6 or above
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Recent experience in the field of musculoskeletal disorders
* Previous experience within an acute hospital environment especially with orthopaedics
* Ability to maintain and enhance effective working relationships
* Ability to plan, allocate and evaluate own work and develop self to enhance performance
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Ability to monitor and control resources
* Excellent time management skills
* Able to meet the needs of the patients
* Computer literacy
* Committed to the provision of overall values of PPG
* Committed to supporting and empowering a physiotherapy team.
* A flexible, positive attitude to performing a variety of duties.
* Willing to develop/learn in the role.
* Fit to undertake the duties of the post.
* Ability to be flexible with regard to working hours (available to work weekends with advance notice and one late shift a week)
