Cross Lane Hospital providesinpatient assessment and treatment to the Adult Population of the Scarborough,Whitby and Ryedale areas andsits within beautiful grounds decorated with flowers, trees and peaceful areas. Carparking at the hospital is free. The job is split into 3 sessions of supporting professional activities (SPA) and 7 sessions of direct clinical care (DCC) and it is hoped that the post-holder will be encouraged to use the enhanced SPA provision within this post to engage in research, education or service development.
The postholder will provideexpert assessment and care to patients admitted to the wards, specifically to 6patients, 3 on each ward. They will have a dedicated slot for discussion oftheir patients in the daily report out.
Main duties of the job
Clinical duties of post holder
1. Psychiatric assessment of patients to establish diagnosis and other psychopathology.
2. Leading on medical assessment of patients. Delegating tasks for further investigations and liaison with other services such as the Acute trust, Community colleagues; social care; GP and A&E colleagues, Probation, Drug and alcohol Service, called Horizons in order to manage social and physical complications and challenges presented by patients.
3. Psychiatric and medical risk assessment and management.
4. Assisting with implementation of national and local guidelines and pathways.
5. Work with team colleagues to direct implementation of routine outcome measures (ROMs) and effective use of specific tools for better screening and effective monitoring of their progress with treatment.
6. Offer psychopharmacological management both licensed and off-licence, as indicated in NICE guidelines, and monitor patients.
7. Knowledge and use of mental health legislation (MHA 1983, MCA 2005, Childrens Act 2004) and other applicable legal frameworks in the management of patients and to safeguard their needs.
8. Write reports in relation to legal frameworks such as mental health review tribunals and courts and their social care, work, training, education and accessing benefits.
