The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for leading a team of Management accountants performing general accounting functions for the Operations Business in addition to the communication and promotion of financial position, insight, governance and control within the business.
This includes the responsibility for the accurate monthly, periodic and annual financial and regulatory reporting, providing insightful analysis of outputs, run rates and efficiencies across both operational and capital expenditure in conjunction with operational performance metrics.
What you’ll be doing as a Financial Accounting Manager
* Leading a small team of management accountants; taking responsibility for their progression and development; ensuring all tasks are completed within agreed timescales and to a high quality.
* Govern and approve the period close financials for Capital income, Opex and Capex in accordance with the agreed close schedules and timetables.
* Lead the coordination and preparation of the regulatory accounting returns within the Asset Operations and Capital Delivery business area
* Complete impairment assessment and fixed asset register clean up for half year and year end reporting.
* Utilize technical knowledge to support the wider Asset Operations and Capital Delivery with accounting queries and writing accounting papers.
* Ensure capital recharges are appropriate and that the business gets the best value for the allowed spend (in readiness for viewing costs on a Totex basis within Operations).
This is a fixed term contract 12 - 18 months (Maternity Cover)
Base location – Hybrid – Clear Water Court Reading
Working pattern – 36 hours
What you should bring to the role
We are looking for a confident and self-motivated professional who is interested in driving performance and understanding the relationship between operational and financial performance.
Essentials:
* You MUST have a accounting qualification
* Systems experience with SAP and HFM
* Demonstrate thorough knowledge of accounting principles, systems, and procedures.
* Experience in a leading or managerial role
* Excellent knowledge of financial statements
* Knowledge and understanding of IFRS
