Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join our friendly work from home validation team.
The post holder will work as part of a team validating the patient pathway for patients on an elective care pathway. The focus of this role will be to improve data quality to ensure that the patient pathway is accurate and delays to planned care minimised. After an initial training period the post holder may be expected to work from home.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will work as part of a team validating the patient pathway for patients on an outpatient appointment waiting list. The focus of this role will be to improve data quality to ensure that the patient pathway is accurate and delays to planned care minimised.
2. Interrogation of multiple clinical system programs (EPR, EDMS, PASweb) and using information provided on the system to make sure that discrepancies in a patient’s pathway are corrected.
3. Investigate and take the appropriate action where pathways are incomplete to support timely patient care, as directed by the team supervisor or team leader.
4. To assist in the creation of weekly reports ensuring any errors recorded on the patient pathway system are amended as directed by the team leader.
5. To provide patient level detail where clinical assessment is required.
6. Alert team leader/supervisor to any patients where appointment delay may be a cause for clinical concern.
7. To participate fully in team meetings and suggest and implement improvements to ways of working within own area.
8. To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and other staff groups within the Trust and external organisations, ensuring that a professional, efficient and courteous service is provided.
9. To assist the Team Leader/ Supervisor with the training of new staff members as part of their Induction Programme, and to shadow and mentor new starters during their training period.
Person specification
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
* GCSE English & Maths required at Grades 9-3 (A*-D) or equivalent practical application and experience which can be demonstrated at interview.
* Experience working with Trust systems such as EPR/PASWEB/EDMS.
* NVQ – Level 2 qualification e.g. Business & Admin or Customer service.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
* IT literate with good keyboard skills.
* Good interpersonal skills (Ability to provide support to others).
* Good organisation skills (ability to prioritise workload).
* Detailed knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.
* Minimum of 12 - 18 months experience in a Customer Service /Office.
COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS
* Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills.
* Ability to demonstrate good organisational skills.
* Awareness of confidentiality and security standards associated with patient information systems.
* Team Working.
* Awareness of patient Appointment Booking systems eg. E-Referral / EPR/ PASWEB/EDMS.
* Awareness of referral to treatment standards.
* Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
