Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and proactive Deputy Care Manager to assist in leading and managing our care services. The Deputy Care Manager will support the Care Manager in ensuring high standards of care delivery, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the well-being of both service users and staff. This role involves supervising care teams, ensuring operational efficiency, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:1. Operational Management
Assist the Care Manager in the day-to-day running of the service.
Ensure the service complies with CQC (Care Quality Commission) regulations and other relevant legislation.
Coordinate and manage staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover at all times.
Respond to emergencies and handle incidents in a timely and professional manner.
2. Staff Management and Development
Supervise, support, and mentor care staff, ensuring they adhere to policies and procedures.
Assist in recruitment, induction, and training of new staff.
Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals, and performance reviews.
Promote professional development and continuous learning among staff.
3. Care Delivery and Quality Assurance
Ensure that person-centred care plans are developed, reviewed, and implemented effectively.
Monitor the quality of care delivery through audits and regular assessments.
Advocate for service users, promoting their rights, dignity, and independence.
Support with safeguarding and risk management processes.
4. Liaison and Communication
Build positive relationships with service users, families, and external stakeholders.
Act as a point of contact in the absence of the Care Manager.
Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external professionals.
Qualifications and Experience:Essential:
Level 3 or above in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
Experience in a supervisory or management role within a care setting.
Strong knowledge of CQC standards and regulations.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Desirable:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care.
Experience working with adults with learning disabilities, dementia, or complex needs.
First aid, medication administration, and safeguarding training.
