This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for a new Director of Sport to join a flourishing boarding and day school, set on an attractive 100-acre campus in a beautiful part of rural Surrey, where there is a sense of excitement, purpose, and development everywhere in a School that is on a clear upward trajectory.
The successful candidate will articulate, shape, and develop a compelling vision for sport at King Edward’s School, Witley, building on existing strengths; they will be a fine teacher with successful experience as a Head of PE, leading a capable and successful team.
You will be ambitious and aspirational, with the clear ability to motivate and inspire through charisma and attention to detail, demanding and achieving excellence as a habit. You will enable pupils to achieve their potential in elite and representative sport and oversee an Elite Performance Pathway for our highest performers. Equally, the School’s uniquely diverse pupil body requires the promotion of a culture of inclusivity; sport, physical exercise, and well-being are increasingly important in nurturing the capacity of every member of our community to flourish. The hope and expectation is that the successful candidate will also take the role of Head of PE, depending on their skills and experience, but this is negotiable.
You will:
1. Possess the rigour and vigour to lead continual development, improvement, learning, and renewal.
2. Ensure that pupils’ learning is at the heart of your departmental leadership.
3. Support pupils and colleagues to achieve their fullest potential, providing effective management, leadership, and development to ensure a positive and forward-thinking workplace.
In return, we offer a rewarding environment, as well as notable benefits such as free school lunches, free on-site parking, use of our school's gym and pool facilities, and competitive rates of pay.
King Edward’s School is a co-educational boarding and day 11-18 school for some 470 pupils, around 30% of whom are full boarders. We are an HMC school and proud of our unique heritage and place among British co-educational independent schools.
