Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Psychologist to join the Children’s Psychology team at Poole Hospital. Our small psychology team work closely with our paediatric consultants, nurses and other allied health professionals to support both outpatients and admissions. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the diabetes and oncology teams to help assess and support the emotional well-being of the children and their families/carers.
Clinical supervision will be provided and the post holder will be fully supported if the post is taken as a preceptorship role. This opportunity is suited to someone who is creative and innovative and can demonstrate excellent clinical, communication skills whilst demonstrating compassion and flexibility within this busy service.

Main duties of the job
1. To provide a specialist direct clinical service to young people and families in the paediatric oncology and diabetes service.
2. To provide a specialist indirect clinical service through consultation, supervision, teaching and training, for colleagues within the paediatric diabetes and oncology teams.
3. To undertake appropriate research, audit and evaluation.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, accredited by the BPS.
* Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training/supervision.
* CPD in field of child health, chronic illness, therapies including ACT or systemic.
Experience
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of client groups and care settings, including outpatient and inpatient care.
* Experience of working with children and families.
* Experience of teaching, training.
* Experience of working in paediatrics, particularly diabetes and oncology.
Knowledge
* Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
* Knowledge of a number of medical conditions (particularly diabetes) and the impact of their treatment on quality of life.
