* Responsible for the financial management of a major, complex project(s) or a number of projects from inception, tendering, negotiating, agreeing contracts, change management, commercial delivery for projects often in excess of tens of millions of pounds.
* Manage costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying commercial risks and opportunities in respect of their works
* Deliver varied commercial duties including responsibility for procuring and managing supply chain
* Optimise commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for money opportunities, whilst achieving the required standards and quality for our customers
* Create and maintain commercial relationships to both internal and external stakeholders
* Contract administration with both client and subcontractors
* Provide support and adherence for the Gated Business Lifecycle process
* Mentor and develop junior members of the team
* Proactively drive career and personal development, including professional certification
What you'll be doing
* Lead on collating costs and maximising value on a large project or portfolio of projects
* Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles
* Manage the preparation of Cost to complete for a Project, including the associated risks
* Support the review of tenders, including estimates, cost data and contract reviews
* Provide commercial input to value engineering reviews
* Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
* Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports
* Present commercial progress to senior divisional staff
* Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts
* Proactively develop, mentor and coach immediate and wider team members to ensure development of talent and succession within the team and support sponsored students.
An organised, innovative and creative Senior Quantity Surveyor with in-depth knowledge and experience of working on Projects and Portfolio's.
* Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadership. Extensive understanding of the construction industry, flexibility, and a talent for negotiation.
* Leading on and embedding a mindset within the team of financial and commercial control within a project(s).
* Demonstration of Strategic Change Management
* Proactively develop, mentor and coach immediate and wider team members to
ensure development of talent and succession within the team
* Demonstration of working to deadlines including effective delegation, working
efficiently and to a high standard
* Excellent communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders
* Keen interest and experience in infrastructure projects
* Demonstration of resilience and determination to succeed (achievement focus)
* Proactively manage opportunities, risks and threats
* Experience working on NEC Contracts
* Working towards chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES or CIOB
