This is a key commercial role helping to maintain and develop excellent customer relationships with allocated customers whilst ensuring that the financial performance of each account is maximised. The role will include contact with most departments within GBRf, particularly Operations and Assets, working closely with them to maintain the highest levels of operational performance and customer service. A willingness to be proactive in identifying issues and driving resolutions, working through any obstacles in the most efficient and optimal way is essential. You will be the primary point of contact for your customers, establishing clear lines of communication and ensuring all commercial and safety obligations are met. This position requires strong commercial acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. The role is Monday to Friday with some flexibility required to meet the needs of the business including some evening and weekend work when required. Closing date: 24th February 2025 Optimise the performance and maximise the profitability of a variety of contracts through active liaison with customers, clients and associated suppliers. Key point of contact for customers and will be required to establish a clear point of contact for all issues relating to GBRf’s delivery of its Commercial and Safety obligations within the contract and any associated variations. Manage contracts, ensuring they are fit for purpose to suit the needs of the business and ensure issues are resolved in a timely and appropriate manner. Taking customer orders and ensuring they are delivered in a timely and efficient manner Present annual revenue/performance targets for each contract at meetings with senior members of staff as well as compile regular monthly performance statistics Managing customer accounts and ensuring correct billing within the correct timescales Understanding and reviewing the Management accounts to ensure services are delivered as efficiently and robustly as possible Developing relationships with the customer to retain and expand on existing contracts Assisting in the development and implementation of new flows Deputising for other members of the team during times of annual leave or busy periods Essential Skills Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to optimise contract performance and profitability. Account Management Experience: Proven track record in managing customer accounts effectively. Knowledge of Railway Operations: Understanding of GBRf contracts and railway operations. Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal. Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and internal teams. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and drive resolutions efficiently. Driving Licence: Clean UK driving licence. Desirable Skills: Leadership: Experience handling difficult management situations and leading initiatives. Railway Knowledge: Basic understanding of the Rule Book and Personal Track Safety Certificate. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse data and provide actionable insights. Project Management: Experience in project management within the rail freight industry.
