This is an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialised Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist, Band 7 to support the MSK Outpatient Service at Wrightington Hospital within Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.
You will provide expert clinical intervention for patients with lower limb MSK conditions with a specific bias towards the foot and ankle while developing the foot and ankle service alongside Consultant colleagues and the wider MDT. You will require extensive postgraduate experience, including substantial specialist experience in Musculoskeletal disorders at a senior level.

The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.
Main duties of the job
As part of the established outpatient physiotherapy team, you will provide expert clinical intervention for patients with lower limb MSK conditions with a specific bias towards the foot and ankle.
You will have advanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of complex, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions. You will be encouraged to participate in audit and research. You will have a varied caseload and see a wide range of referrals. Job responsibilities
1. Provide physiotherapy musculoskeletal assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients presenting to the MSK outpatient department with lower limb MSK conditions with a specific bias towards the foot and ankle.
2. Act as a source of expertise on the management of complex foot and ankle and other lower limb musculoskeletal patients providing an advisory service to patients, relatives, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals and medical staff.
3. Take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and/or chronic presentations, and to determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated.
4. Maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
5. Undertake a leadership role in the planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluation of the therapy service provided to the patients within the speciality across the sites on a day-to-day basis.
6. Educate and train physiotherapists, other health professionals, medical staff and physiotherapy students in the management of musculoskeletal conditions.
