Job summary
We are looking for an individual to join our friendly, patient-centred team to help deliver the pharmacy clinical trials service, working at the heart of Cancer Research and Innovation at UHNM. This key role will be a central part of the Cancer Pharmacy Clinical Trials team, predominantly based in the RSUH Cancer Centre as well as working across RSUH and County sites to provide an excellent service to patients, trial sponsors and a range of trust teams including Cancer Pharmacy, Research and Innovation and wider multi-disciplinary teams.

Main duties of the job
1. To dispense medications to patients, after receiving appropriate training and following the appropriate written procedures.
2. To hand out medicines to patients following appropriate training.
3. To order and receive clinical trial drugs, process receipt paperwork and acknowledge receipt on IVRS (Electronic Medication Supply) systems following the appropriate written procedures.
4. To assist in the creation of trial specific SOPs and documentation under supervision.
5. To check stock levels and expiry dates of clinical trial drugs and keep balance logs up to date following appropriate SOPs.
6. Assist with trial close out, medicines destruction and archiving trial documents following specific written procedures.
7. Assist in ensuring compliance with any recommendations arising from Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) inspections relating to clinical trials.
8. Support the implementation of the Research Governance Framework and the Research and Innovation Strategy within the Pharmacy Directorate and the UHNM.
Work location will be mainly based at Royal Stoke University Hospital, with a requirement to also work at County Hospital site.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* 4 GCSEs grade C (new grading 4) or above or equivalent must include Maths, English and Science.
* And NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services OR equivalent relevant qualification to area of speciality.
* AND willingness to work towards NVQ L2 in pharmacy services.
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
Essential
* Experience of working with standard operating procedures.
* Has basic IT skills and able to use Microsoft applications.
* Team working.
* Ability to communicate with a range of people, including customers and difficult queries.
* Ability to investigate queries, taking action if appropriate.
* Ability to realise when it is necessary to liaise with senior staff.
* Ability to prioritise own workload and work as part of a team.
* Ability to work unsupervised and alone.
* Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
Desirable
* Awareness of Health and safety issues including COSHH.
* At least 1 years' previous experience in a similar role.
* Previous experience working in a GCP environment.
Other Job Requirements
Essential
* Must have ability to travel between sites.
* Ability to take part in working rotas including bank holidays, weekends and extended hours service.
* Flexibility in working hours to suit the needs of the Pharmacy Directorate.
