We are looking for a Band 7 Specialist Older Adults Psychiatry Liaison Practitioner to join our Psychiatry Liaison Service at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey, Surrey.
The successful candidate will be involved in undertaking initial assessments and follow-up reviews of older people presenting with mental health issues and/or dementia at St Peter's Hospital (currently inpatient wards and A+E).
They must be able to work flexibly within the team and provide supervision to a team of nurses. The posts require shift working.

Main duties of the job
1. To provide expert interventions and oversight to the care of older people within the acute general hospital pathway, ensuring that the care delivered is excellent and in keeping with the most up-to-date guidelines.
2. To have a good knowledge of mental health within working-age adults.
3. To support the growth and development of other members of the liaison psychiatry team whilst supporting the service manager and wider Trust to achieve an exemplary service underpinning our visions and values.
4. To put the experience of the person using the service at the centre of all decision-making whilst building and maintaining supportive and responsive relationships with colleagues in the acute trust.
Person Specification
Experience
* Demonstrable experience as a Band 6.
* Significant experience of working with people with a variety of mental health issues.
* Independent assessment skills i.e. CMHRS duty, HTT assessment, liaison assessment or similar.
* Demonstrable expertise in complex assessment of people with both mental and physical health issues.
* Demonstrable ability to develop practical innovations and approaches to issues and complex problems.
* Expertise and experience in supervision and supporting the growth of other staff.
* In-depth awareness of liaison psychiatry and National agendas for the development of liaison services.
Qualifications
* Professional Qualification as RMN/RN (Mental Health) or Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with professional registration (NMC/HCPC).
* Willingness to complete Mentorship course.
