Job Title: Quality Inspector Salary: up to £32,240 per annum dependent upon experience Location: Milton Keynes An opportunity has become available to join a manufacturing company as a Quality Inspector at their site in Milton Keynes. Established more than 20 years ago, they are a one stop fabrication facility offering the following services: Laser Cutting, Fabrication, CNC Machining, Welding, Assembly, Inspection and Finishing. Through offering a complete manufacturing service they have built a reliable reputation as an approved supplier to many well known companies spanning across multiple industries across the globe. These include railway, automotive, aerospace, construction, MoD and security, industrial, marine and power. The Quality Inspector monitors the quality aspects of all manner of goods and services, including, but not limited to incoming raw materials to the organisation and the products that are ready to be shipped. They also ensure that manufactured products meet the specified quality standards set by the organisation before being sent to customers. The Quality Control Inspector’s role involves analysing the measurements, conducting tests, and monitor the production phases. They sort out the items that fail to meet the quality standards and enhance the production process to reduce the chances of failure. This is a permanent position working a 40 hour week. The hours of work are Monday- Thursday: 8am- 5pm and Fridays: 8am- 2pm. Main Responsibilities: Carry out quality assessment measurements of all the products ready to be shipped and incoming raw materials, including metrological and visual assessment. Operate the CMM, experience with Aberlink software ideal, but experience with PC-DMIS is an advantage. Take a thorough look at the plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the product requirements Reject all the incoming raw materials which fail to meet quality expectations and report the issue promptly. Resolving quality-related issues and adhering to deadlines Assist the QM in designing an efficient quality system and protocols which can be used across all company needs Prepare documentation of the inspection process, which includes detailed reports and performance records Recommend improvement measures to the production process to ensure quality control standards are met Guide the production team about the quality control issues to enhance the quality of the product Assist the Head of Quality with KPI data and monitor customer satisfaction levels Monitor the production phases at various levels Benefits: 20 days holiday plus bank holidays Company Pension after probation period Candidates aspiring to grow in the company can undertake additional training and learning such as City & Guilds or CQI. Onsite, free parking About You: At least secondary education, achieving high school certification grades. Real-time experience in an engineering domain is preferred, but not essential Excellent documentation and presentation skills Knowledge of Microsoft office and SAP/MRP systems Good organisational skills – self learning and able to work autonomously. Inspector certification is not required for the role but an advantage if you do have this Possess proficient written and verbal communication skills. At times, you may have to write protocols to the concerned department. Possess strong organizational skills to perform product review and inspection. Capable of standing for a long duration. Lifting is usually a daily task for inspection purposes. Possess strong knowledge of the type of equipment and computer programs used adhering to the safety guidelines of the organization. Knowledge of technical documents, manuals, and product engineering drawings to ensure products meet the quality standards. Instruction and guidance will be given on a frequent basis. You may need to train other employees for some specific processes and procedures. You must be confident to give instruction to employees regarding how to prevent flaws and work towards a smoother workflow. Able to identify the variances in products to meet the specific standards. You must be aware of changes made to the processes and functions. Have a good knowledge of mathematics is essential in measuring and calculating specifications during product development. The ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances (GD&T – general dimensioning and tolerancing) as well as welding quality standards and symbols.
