Bishop Auckland College (BAC) Group is made up of four delivery arms:
* BAC is based on Woodhouse Lane, Bishop Auckland and in The McIntyre Centre, Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland. The general further education college delivers vocational programmes to young people, adults and apprentices with an increasing offer of higher education provision in specialist areas.
* South West Durham Training (SWDT) is situated on Aycliffe Business Park, Newton Aycliffe and is a specialist engineering, manufacturing and plumbing centre with a rich history in training the regions workforce.
* Durham Gateway is housed on the main campus offering specialist alternative education to young people aged 14-16 from across the County.
* BAC Nursery is housed on the main campus offering a broad early years curriculum to over 60 young people and their families from across the area.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection (December 2024) rated the College as Good overall with two Outstanding features. Inspectors said of the Corporate Board Governors have relative experience across a range of sectors that they use effectively to advise and challenge leaders. They have a thorough understanding of the colleges strengths and areas of improvement and have a well-structured governance model.
In Summer 2024, the College Group launched its latest Corporate Strategic Plan 2024-2027. The creation of the Plan was led by the Corporate Board and included consultation with key stakeholders from the College Group, the local community, the regional economy and representatives of key Government agencies.

* Performance - To deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment that enables positive progression for all learners.
* Pounds - To be financially sustainable to drive investment in our staff and our facilities.
What we would like from you: We are looking for an experienced leader that has a passion for education, an eye for detail and a constant drive for improvement.
To Enhance Our Already Strong Corporate Board, We Are Looking For Someone, Preferably With Experience In One Of The Following Areas:
* Corporate law
* Finance purchasing and procurement
* Curriculum design and delivery
* Special Education Needs and Disabilities
This voluntary role will see you meet new people and build relationships, improve on your governance, leadership and strategy skills and broaden your portfolio experience. We will provide you with ongoing training and professional development, and we will also reimburse expenses too!
