Well, you know you said it would take a special role for you to move, this is the one Super exciting and super rare, this role ticks all the boxes for you My client is a SAAS web platform provider for premiership football and rugby clubs, horse and motor racing, and every other sport on the planet. The platform handles all membership, season tickets, merchandise, sponsorship, advertising, marketplaces, and customer engagement. It is essentially an eCommerce platform developed by a rapidly scaling top UK tech business, but at its heart it’s a data business. Now, each client is very different, they have differing requirements, data, CRM, and eCommerce integrations. The customer data is significant and it is essential to move, clean, interrogate, segment, integrate and test data flows with all the compliance and governance required. Using your existing knowledge of data engineering, you’ll work with the Head of Analytics and slowly and meticulously implement build data pipelines and undertake the following: ● Integrate data from multiple data sources into a central data repository, ● Optimize ETL and maintain a high level of data quality. ● Work with the wider team (Product / Marketing / Finance / CS) to understand the data journey ● Run data projects for all new customer data integrations ● Identify, and support the development of data structures to enable ● Build the infrastructure required for optimal ETL of data from a wide variety of data sources ● Use SQL and SSIS. ● Undertake Data Analysis ● Support the Business Intelligence needs with performant, trusted data provision. ● Data Governance ● Ensuring adherence to all architectural, governance and compliance requirements. ● Ensure that adequate controls are in place to monitor data processes and ensure reliability. ● Work hard to understand the business strategy through data ● Ensure that different departmental data requirements are reliably supported. ● Support the Analytics Team with ready-to-analyze data. ● Work closely with IT and Ops to ensure that data provision is structured appropriately and efficiently. ● Coach and develop understanding and help develop greater self-service. So what does the ideal candidate look like? We’re looking for a midweight data engineer looking to transition into a much more senior role. My client will support you in this journey, however as the data team is still quite small, and junior, they’re keen to hire a future leader, someone who would feel comfortable with the more complex end of the project work. As such we’re looking for skills in SQL or similar (MS SQL, Oracle, Teradata), the ability to develop datasets that are highly performant, using indexes, and advanced analytical functions. Experience of SSIS experience preferred (or similar experience with other ETL tools). Experience in Data Modelling techniques, Power BI, or similar for data visualization would be advantageous.
