Housing Resettlement Worker – Refuge

Responsible for
Individual case load of service users. Ultimately the Board of Management through the Chief Executive.
Job Purpose/Scope
The Housing Resettlement Officer will work closely between CHADD Refuge & Outreach Services and Dudley Council housing teams, to address housing and move-on issues and will work with service users at all risk levels, including those referred to MARAC.
The successful candidate will provide a package of support covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning.
The position falls under defined exceptions in the Equality Act 2010, known as occupational requirements and is only open to female candidates.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Provide the highest possible standard of support to women, children and male victims who are or who have experienced domestic abuse across all CHADD Refuge sites.
2. Ensure, along with other employees, that families are welcomed and supported on their arrival and during their stay in Refuge.
3. Assist women to move on from Refuge into their new accommodation by assisting with housing applications and offer Follow-on Support in the new tenancy.
4. Provide support with applications for benefits and grants to enable families and individuals to move on into independent living.
5. Work in partnership with project support worker, homelessness and housing teams and other relevant external agencies.
6. Maintain accurate and up to date records in accordance with CHADD’s policies and procedures.
7. Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed, and client’s individual needs are being met by carrying out risk assessments and undertaking support planning in consultation with clients.
8. Maintain confidentiality of individuals accessing the service, and ensure that all confidentiality agreements are signed, and database entries accurately updated in line with GDPR requirements.
9. Provide practical and emotional support to clients who are living in Refuge.
10. Facilitate a safe and positive environment for women and children living in Refuge.
11. Facilitate a regular social group in conjunction with clients.
12. Facilitate move on workshops for women to ensure they are prepared for move on.
13. Promote effective partnership working and develop strong links with professionals from external agencies and members of the community to maximise the support available to residents.
14. In consultation with women, organise appointments with relevant agencies and accompany them if required.
15. Encourage and empower women to maintain their independence and use appropriate partnership services to meet their individual needs.
16. Work on your own initiative but also liaise closely with other employees to ensure all aspects of the service are covered, which includes working flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
17. Meet annual targets as part of the Staff Team and agree the targets in partnership with the Team Manager/Service Manager and regularly review progress as part of a development plan.
18. Ensure accurate record keeping on our internal system and ensure that case notes are accurate.
19. Participate in Team Meetings.
20. Work closely with the Staff Team to develop and sustain relationships with a range of funders, partners, policymakers, and other external stakeholders.
21. Participate in the monitoring, evaluation, reporting and continuous improvement of CHADD services.
22. Promote the work of CHADD and the rights and needs of women who experience domestic abuse with other service providers and policy makers.
23. Maintain professional boundaries when working with service users, staff and external bodies in accordance with CHADD’s policies and procedures.
24. Attend relevant trainings to promote your professional development and enhance knowledge base.
25. Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

* Full UK driving licence and access to own transport is essential for this post.
