The Production Manager is responsible for managing a team of intermediate or experienced professionals in Manufacturing Operations. Establishes objectives and guidelines for managing and monitoring cell performance and productivity.
Promote an environment that challenges the existing process and strives for excellence through continuous improvement and flexibility.
Accountable for delivering Safety (S), Quality (Q), Delivery (D), Cost (C), Lean (L), and People (P) targets across the department, introducing new products and processes, and unleashing the department's potential.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the day-to-day production and delivery process across the department, ensuring key business deliverables are met and exceeded, including OTD, productivity, sales, inventory controls & budget adherence.
* Install and support the ‘Tier’ process into the Wolverhampton Site (Tier 1, 2, and 3) using SQDCP principles.
* Direct cost reduction and process improvements to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.
* Direct scheduling to meet production standards.
* Execute the sequencing of work, such as build and delivery to optimize productivity.
* Direct innovation to enhance the cell's production capabilities.
* Support the interfaces with customers to understand customer needs and issues to ensure the customer receives satisfactory standards of service.
* People Leadership - Communication, driving the right culture and acting as an escalation point for any people issues. Talent mapping and career development.
* Support in generating future state capacity plans for capital expenditure modeling.
* Ensure capacity and capability processes are implemented to meet agreed customer requirements and act as sponsor for associated capital expenditure.
* Responsible for managing departmental budgets and meeting cost and budget targets, including proactively identifying savings and driving associated initiatives through to a successful conclusion.
* Efficiently introduce new products to the production line, ensuring associated manufacturing, process, and quality controls are in place from the outset.
* Ensure that product is produced using approved parts and processes and that quality/yield issues are proactively managed to reduce the associated cost of poor quality.
* Strong people management skills, with the ability to deliver results by empowering your team; must be comfortable providing performance-related feedback and challenging, mentoring, and coaching individuals.
* Lead the operations & manufacturing engineering team to achieve outstanding delivery quality, productivity performance, and a clear path to embed manufacturing best practices.
* Manage operational budgets to promote profitability and ensure the company has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters.
* Support & lead the development of a continuous improvement culture through CORE and develop ownership for the site Operations transformation plan (5yr).
* Mentor, coach, and develop the capabilities of the leaders in your team to develop a strong Operations Management team.
* Manage payroll/overtime for the department(s).
* Drive productivity using Lean tools such as 5S, standardization, and visual management.
* Lead and implement a multi-skilled workforce to be agile and meet customer needs, including planning, organizing, developing, coaching, training, and engagement.
* Lead, set standards, guide, and coach in line with the Collins Aerospace core values.
* Drive root cause analysis using the CAPA system for faults from both internal and external customers.
* Maintain and develop customer relationships and provide exceptional customer service.
* Lead Quality and associated Quality Management Systems (QMS).
* Perform appraisal reviews with the Operations team/direct reports.
* Demonstrate a willingness to show initiative and a readiness to own decisions and their outcomes.
* Accountable for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People (SQDCP) reviews, including Safety Compliance to EHS policy, Risk Assessment, Safe Systems of Work, Accidents/Incidents, Housekeeping (5S), Quality, Customer issues/returns, Compliance to standards (ISO9001 / AS9100 etc), Process adherence, Right First Time (RFT), Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ), Quality Notes (QN), Delivery, Schedule Adherence, Customer OTIF/OTD, Optimization of schedule, Inventory Reduction, Lead time reduction, Sub-contractor performance, Balanced workflow, Continuous Improvement (CORE), Cost, Paid service revenue/recoveries, Capital Investment (Capex), Cost of non-quality (CoPQ), and Lean tools and techniques to eliminate waste.
* Foster communication, involvement, and engagement within the team, drive multi-skilling, and support learning and development, succession planning, and strategic future projects – R&D, Automation, Technology. Act as an ambassador for Collins Aerospace and a role model for the company’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
* Degree qualification in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering.
* Chartered / Incorporated Engineer.
* Time-served apprentice.
* Track record of delivering a world-class operation.
* Proven track record with a successful portfolio of achievements.
* Competent in Operations, Engineering, EHS, Quality, and HR class-leading practices.
* Confident and professional personality, experienced with direct customer interface.
