Langbank Medical Centre are looking to recruit a GP receptionist to join our very busy and friendly GP practice.
Experience of working in GP practice or NHS work would be an advantage, however, full training will be given.
As this role can be demanding, we are looking for a receptionist who is confident, has excellent communication skills and is organised and good at multi-tasking.
Your working hours will be 20 hours per week Monday to Friday between 8am to 8pm.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly motivated and friendly receptionist who can work under pressure to join our very busy surgery. You must be capable to work as part of a team whilst using your own initiative. We expect first-class service to our patients. As a receptionist, you will be the first point of contact between patients and clinical staff.
Job Responsibilities

Job Summary:
Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the reception area.
Reception Duties:
* Opening and closing of surgery, booking, cancelling and changing appointments
* Answering the telephone and conveying messages
* Accepting requests for repeat prescriptions, checking the fax and prescription box for repeat prescription requests
* Sorting the mail
* Photocopying insurance medicals and reports and maintaining record book and files thereof
* Maintaining a log of telephone messages
* Arranging blood tests, referrals for patients
* Filing results and any other relevant documents in patients' notes and refiling notes after use
* Maintenance of patients' notes including starting a new wallet when required and dividing the contents in a logical manner
* Charging patients the appropriate amount for private work, providing a receipt to the patient and recording the charge in the Petty Cash book
* Helping with the sorting of filing in new medical records in order that they are in the form used in the Surgery
* Periodically checking the fax to make sure it is operational and has an adequate paper supply before leaving in the evening
* Maintaining a record of daily lab tests, both outgoing and incoming, in a manner suited to the needs of the Practice
Main Duties/Key Tasks:
* Culling and sorting patient records and letters in preparation for scanning and read coding
* Reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of the patient's medical history
* Read Coding the information into the Practice clinical system
* Auditing data collection standards in the Practice
* Monitoring progress of tasks against Practice targets
* Monitoring patient call and recall systems
* Support the management of QOF in achieving the targets
