The Land and Mineral Resources Department (LMR) comprises a multi-disciplinary team responsible for managing property and mineral resources across all UK business divisions, including Marine mineral resources. Areas of responsibility include the procurement of land and mineral reserves and resources with the necessary permits to operate the UK businesses in a cost-effective manner. Specialist disciplines include land management, planning, restoration and aftercare, mineral resource identification and assessment, quarry and tip design, geotechnical issues and land surveying. This key role is to provide, in a cost effective and efficient manner, professional services to all UK business divisions on all land, mineral and property interests and planning / permitting issues (other than specified EPP matters) and to manage effectively Hanson UK's property and mineral assets within a designated area. Key accountabilities The Lands and Planning Manager is responsible for: Ensure the cost-effective management of all land, property, mineral resources and planning permissions and other permits, within designated areas of responsibility. Lead on designated acquisition and disposal of land, property and mineral reserve projects and in obtaining, maintaining and the implementation of planning permissions and other permits as required from time to time. Managing LMR expenditure on specific projects in line with budgets and other authorizations. Implementing policy and strategy within LMR, in accordance with UK and group requirements. Liaising with the business lines at operational levels to ensure the provision of timely, efficient and effective lands and planning advice and services. Represent the company on external bodies and liaise with external stakeholders, as required from time to time. Provide expert / specialist advice and support on planning, mineral and land management issues. Manage, review and make recommendations to the regional Land and Mineral Resources Manager on designated property transactions. Maintain appropriate property information and management systems. Undertaking other specific tasks or responsibilities as may be required from time to time. Complying with the competition legislation and all related company instructions and procedures. Complying with all Group and company administrative, management and safety instructions as amended from time to time. Education/Qualification BSc (Hons) or equivalent in property / minerals estates management / mineral resource planning or related disciplines relative to LMR activities at this level. Chartered Surveyor or equivalent professional qualification from a relevant corporate body.
