We are recruiting for SLT Apprentice roles within the Learning Disability Service.
The SLT apprenticeship is a new and innovative route to ‘Learn while you Earn’ and combines 4 years of clinicalemployment, work based learning, and academic learning. Once your apprenticeship is completed, you will become a Band 5 SLT within the Trust, continuing your career with us.
You will be an innovative thinker and strong negotiator, with a budding passion to improve the lives of children in the community through speech and language therapy.
As an apprentice you'll have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge, skills and experience during placements acrossthe trust and our partner providers. You will be provided with dedicated time to study for a Bachelor’s degree in Speech & Language Therapy.
The successful candidate for this position will also need to complete an application and interview with the apprenticeshipprovider. Once you have been successful at both elements, you will be offered the apprenticeship position.
Our Learning Disability Team provide support and advice to adults aged 18+ with a Learning Disability. This includes working with their family/carers and other professionals where appropriate.
We have an amazing multi-disciplinary Team,consisting of Speech and Language Therapists, Community Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Vision and Hearing Practitioners and Clinical Support Team.
We use both face to face visits, as well as virtual assessments where clinically appropriate. We work in a number ofsettings, including client's own homes, residential/supported living, day centres or in the community. We also work with multiple agencies and service providers across Kent, embedding joint working practices to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.

You will need to provide certificates as evidence of your qualifications as part of the recruitmentprocess.
The University of Sheffield also require:
• A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure check (or EU equivalent)
• A satisfactory occupational health screening report
Whilst you will be based in one specific team, your placements will give you a variety of learning environments workingacross both internal and external clinical placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of the local healthcare service.
