Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate will be working with the portfolio managers and fellow analysts to provide sector-based coverage of the U.S and European credit market. He/she will be responsible for both providing investment opinions and profitable trade ideas for the financials and some corporate sectors.
The analyst will also monitor existing investments on the funds to minimize risk. Furthermore, the candidate will support the portfolio management in all aspects of the investment process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Update historical financial models, build out projections, maintain comparative company analysis, relay information from conference calls, industry conferences and discussions with management teams, and develop investment theses and trade ideas.
2. Communicate investment recommendations and credit opinions to portfolio managers.
3. Keep PMs and Traders updated on all news items related to companies within the invested universe.
4. Support the portfolio management in its day-to-day business.
5. Participate and contribute in interest rate, credit, and product meetings.
6. Help to deploy and further develop the company’s proprietary quantitative tools.
7. Assist in the creation of client-requested, credit-oriented documentation.
8. Conduct ad hoc project work as required.

Specific Functional Duties:
The candidate will work together with the team on our highly regarded thought leadership articles and other publications.
Key skills, attributes, and characteristics:
1. Strong financial modelling and analytical skills are paramount.
2. Ability to translate fundamental credit opinions into relative value ideas.
3. Assess corporate and financial structures and covenants.
4. Proficient in Bloomberg, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
5. Knowledge of quantitative methods and programming languages (VBA, R, Python).
6. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience and qualifications:
1. Bachelor degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics (CFA preferred or working towards).
2. Experience in asset management or debt capital markets would be an advantage, as would experience within credit rating agencies.
3. Prior experience covering the financial sector would be an advantage.
