Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Lecturer in Production Arts at our Chichester campus. You will join us on a part time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of pro rata of £26,451 - £41,247 per annum (i.e. £15,870.60 - £24,748.20).
The Lecturer in Production Arts role:
Chichester College is looking for a Production Arts Lecturer who can share their passion for everything backstage in the world of Theatre. Ideally the candidate should have both a professional background in the theatre and have some experience of teaching in the FE sector.
Chichester College has strong links within the local community and supports 16 productions every year both within our own small theatre and in local theatres such as The Minerva at CFT and the Guildhall in Portsmouth.
The Production Arts course is the glue that holds the other courses within the department together. From our own unique inclusive theatre company, Theatre Inc. to our very successful level 3 Musical Theatre, Acting and Dance programmes, through to our level 4 advanced acting course, the students studying the behind-the-scenes craft, have an active role within all productions.
This position is a three days per week commitment and may include some course management duties.
Key Responsibilities of our Lecturer in Production Arts :
* Undertaking teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring, as agreed.
* Ensuring that appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner.
* Undertaking administration and provide reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters.
* Taking an active role in the achievement of high individual student retention and success rates, meeting or surpassing the relevant targets for each.
* Developing curricula and learning activities, taking into consideration literacy and numeracy development, and equality and diversity.
* Understanding personal responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding.
* Keeping up-to-date with current issues, changes, and policies relating to the educational sector.
* Participating in marketing activities and promote the College for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.
* Co-ordinating and supervising college events where production arts students are required to support
Our ideal Lecturer in Production Arts should have the below skills and experience:
* Level 3 (or equivalent) in related subject
* Have or be prepared to work towards an apprenticeship assessors qualification
* Relevant industrial/commercial/subject experience
* Knowledge of current theatre practices
* Board knowledge of theatre practices
* The ability to mentor young technicians through show-based projects
