Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our care home team. The role involves preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to the dietary needs of residents while maintaining high hygiene and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare, and cook meals according to residents' dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional needs.
* Ensure all meals are prepared following food safety and hygiene regulations.
* Develop menus that cater to special dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, vegetarian, gluten-free, pureed diets).
* Maintain stock control and ensure proper storage of food ingredients.
* Oversee kitchen operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
* Comply with CQC (Care Quality Commission) standards and food safety regulations.
* Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient teamwork.
* Monitor portion control and minimize food waste.
* Liaise with care home staff to accommodate individual meal requests for residents.
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a Chef, preferably in a care home, hospital, or healthcare setting.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and allergen management.
* Ability to plan and prepare meals for individuals with special dietary requirements.
* Strong organizational and leadership skills.
* Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
* Understanding of nutrition and hydration needs in elderly care.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet meal service deadlines.
