The Children’s Therapies team in North West Kent has exciting opportunities for dynamic and enthusiastic Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists. The service provides Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Care Co-ordination services to Children and Young People aged 0-19. We have a number of Band 5 SLT sessions available on a permanent basis working in a range of venues and across client groups, including early years and school years, mainstream schools, specialist provisions and clinics.
The posts are suitable for NQPs or Band 5s looking for support with progression towards Band 6. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to work on a rotational basis spending 6-9 months working within each specialist area within the service such as severe and complex needs, speech, DLD, AAC etc. Some children are open to one discipline (eg SLT), but an integrated therapy approach is offered where the support of more than one discipline is needed. We currently offer a hybrid work pattern for staff with a combination of face to face and virtual working.
We pride ourselves on the support and induction offered to new staff including: regular meetings with a line manager; access to clinical supervision; in house and external training. We offer regular clinical governance days where the whole team comes together to share knowledge, skills and CPD experiences. You will be supported by experienced clinicians from across Kent.
As a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist you will:
• Help us deliver ‘The Balanced System’®, working with schools and settings to provide Specialist, Targeted andUniversal support for SLCN.
• Provide assessment (formal and informal as appropriate), plan and implement therapy interventions for groups and/or individuals in a range of settings.
• Modify the interventions and programmes as appropriate, to meet the needs of individual children, young people and families.
• Deliver standardised training packages as part of a package of intervention.
• Work with key colleagues (ie Education and Health) in order to support multi agency models of service delivery.
• Participate in reflective practice and on-going learning in order to continually improve the service offered by Children’s Therapies.
• Be committed to continually improving the patient experience by engaging in regular patient feedback mechanisms and encouraging service users to participate in shaping the service delivery.
