What You'll Be Doing As a Play Worker, your role is all about creating a fun, safe, and inclusive space where children and young people with disabilities can play, explore, and express themselves. You’ll work closely with families and a team of professionals to provide personalised support that encourages confidence and independence. Plan & Lead Activities – Organise and run engaging games, arts and crafts, music, sports, sensory play, and more Support Children in Play – Help children take part in activities, ensuring they feel included and valued. Encourage Social Interaction – Foster friendships and positive experiences through play and teamwork. Promote Independence – Empower children to make choices and participate in activities that interest them. Ensure Safety & Wellbeing – Be alert to individual needs and create a safe, supportive environment. Provide Personal Care – Offer assistance when needed, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Communicate Effectively – Use different communication methods to engage with children in ways that suit them best. Work as Part of a Team – Collaborate with other Play Workers, Team Leaders, and families to provide the best experience possible. Monitor & Report – Keep records of children’s progress, report any concerns, and follow safeguarding procedures. Previous experience working with children, young people, or in a similar support role is beneficial, but not essential Full training will be provided. Requirements: ✅ Must be 18 or over at the start of employment. ✅ Must be able to travel confidently around Hull (via public or personal transport). ✅ A willingness to learn and get involved Enthusiasm and passion for play are more important than formal qualifications.
