Responsibilities
1. Accountable for work planning and execution on the project including methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals, and work schedules.
2. Ensure alignment and partnering with the alliance partners.
3. Monitor and review Plans/Schedules and identify risks and issues.
4. Review and approve timesheets, expense reports, vacation requests, and training requests, within Limits of Authority.
5. Responsible for performance management of all direct-report employees, including coaching/mentoring, assistance with career planning and training, preparation of yearly and mid-year performance reviews.
6. Ensure all project staff and direct reports understand and comply with applicable code of conduct policies (Kiewit Nuclear Canada and customer policy).
7. Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look-ahead schedules for General Foreman.
8. Implement and enforce safety, quality, and human performance programs.
9. Ensure adherence to Kiewit Nuclear Canada policies and project procedures by project personnel.
10. Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
11. Assume responsibility for productivity of direct hire trade labor and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and tools & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
12. Understand and support applicable trade agreements.
13. Apply home company discipline policies and escalate performance concerns to Construction Manager.
14. Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation, and owner-specified requirements.
15. Review and support the creation of Construction Work Packages.
16. Ensure project compliance with drawings, specifications, Construction Work Packages, project schedule, and budget.
17. Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, and other contractors.
18. Ensure project compliance with QA Programs and project quality.
19. Other duties as required or assigned.
20. Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.
21. Carry out site safety inspections.
22. Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
Qualifications
1. Minimum of 7 years Mechanical or Electrical construction and subcontractor supervision experience.
2. Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety requirements.
3. Must understand how to support a positive Safety Culture.
4. Experience in managing complex industrial construction projects.
5. Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
6. Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Program.
