Background: Based in Cardiff, our specialist Trusts and Estates Administration department works on behalf of a number of large financial institutions, trust corporations, and private clients to offer specialist advice on probate, trusts and estates, lasting powers of attorney, and deeds of variation.
The Role: An opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join the team. The role will involve managing a caseload of files, to include:
1. Communicating on the telephone and corresponding with clients, beneficiaries, asset holders, HM Revenue & Customs, and other third parties.
2. Drafting legal documents.
3. Preparing tax calculations and HMRC returns.
4. Preparing accounts.
5. Working to strict deadlines and service level agreements using a case management system.
6. Working proactively to conclude cases in a timely and sensitive manner.
7. Working with other team members to develop and maintain good client relationships.
8. Managing own case load as well as supporting other team members.
9. Advising on the law relating to wills, trusts, estates, and tax.
Experience of non-contentious probate work, in particular, estates administration, is advantageous. The role will involve communication with clients via the telephone; therefore, inter-personal and listening skills are essential. The individual will also have sound organisational, written, and time management skills, as well as a good eye for detail. This role would ideally suit candidates who have a Law degree or similar academic qualification. The LPC is advantageous but not essential.
