Job Description:
Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Test Solutions Engineer on a permanent basis at our modern and purpose-built Luton (Capability Green) site. The Principal Test Solutions Engineer will need to be a talented and experienced Engineer, familiar with working on complex electronic (ideally RF, Digital and analogue based) Test Solutions. The Principal Test Solutions Engineer will have hands-on experience of designing complex Test Solutions for the full life cycle. Requirements capture for Test Solutions or main product would be a huge benefit.
This Principal Test Solutions Engineer role is within Combat Air business group, and will be supporting the production test solution capability enhancement of the Test Solutions of the following products:
1. Praetorian DASS
2. At LRI and SRI levels

What you will do:
1. As a Principal Test Solutions Engineer, you will work with the support of experts in their field, using world-class facilities to deliver designs that work to beyond 40GHz, and help form the complex electronic test systems that meet our challenging future customer requirements.
2. The scope of work can range from design and technical problem solving to test solution development.
3. This role may even take you across the UK or abroad for technical review.
What we're looking for:
You really must have:
1. Good understanding of a range of electronic technologies from dc to light or a good understanding of Systems/Software engineering lifecycle.
2. Experience of working with external suppliers and outsourcing complex work packages.
3. Extensive knowledge in NI LabVIEW & TestStand.
4. Degree qualified (or equivalent).
5. Good problem-solving ability.
6. Good schedule and budget control.
7. Good written and verbal communication skills.
8. Commercially aware.
9. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
10. Strong leadership competency but also can demonstrate team working skills.
11. Knowledge of engineering life cycle and business process.
It would be nice if you had:
1. Good understanding of digital/analogue/RF systems with ESM and ECM.
2. Experience of working in the defence electronics sector, ideally with airborne sensor systems.
Chartered Engineer status, or a member of a professional engineering institution.
