Rate of pay £16.20 based on a 40 hour week - £648 a week Intial contract 6 months with chance of extensions or permanent Looking for a Environmental/Quality Technician with environmental knowledge in an industrial environment, together with technical experience, permitting, quality, contractor management, need to be good with numbers & excel. What you will do The Environmental & Quality Technician will assist the Senior Environmental Engineer to manage the Environmental and Quality systems, implement and monitor the day to day requirements in 3 Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) to ensure compliance with the environmental, statutory, company and contractual standards. The Environmental & Quality Technician will support the Energy Recovery Facilities management team in meeting their obligations with respect to environmental monitoring and reporting as required by the Environmental Permitting Regulations and other legislation. The Environmental & Quality Technician will ensure monitoring and testing is planned and carried out in a timely manner to required standards and permit requirements. The Environmental & Quality Technician ensures reports are produced as required under the Environmental Permit and other regulations and liaise with and manage third-party contractors for the delivery of the environmental monitoring programme, liaising with Energy Recovery Facilities Operational staff to ensure that environmental compliance is maintained and issues resolved promptly. Qualifications Essential Qualification in a Science/Engineering biased subject (environmental, chemistry, maths, engineering) Intermediate level IT skills with excellent spreadsheet abilities Desirable Knowledge of environmental permitting and Waste Incineration regulations Understanding of regulations covering industrial processes, emissions, Industrial Emissions Directive, Environmental Permitting and Waste Management Understanding of combustion Logical and analytical approach to problem solving Positive, flexible approach to duties with ability to use initiative, solve problems and to work to tight deadlines under pressure Attention to detail and ability to multitask Good interpersonal skills with persons at all levels Willingness to work flexible hours and tasks as required by the position Physically fit, capable of visiting various locations around the plant including multilevel stairs Understanding the importance of health & safety within an industrial environment Where you will work Our ERFs utilise world-class technology to safely transform residual waste into energy for the National Grid. Reporting to the Senior Environmental Engineer this role is responsible for providing support to 3 ERFs in Shrewsbury, Staffordshire & Birmingham to ensure full compliance with environment & quality legislation
