We have an excellent opportunity for a Mortuary Support Worker to join our friendly team at Royal Stoke Hospital.
Working with the Mortuary Manager, you will have responsibility for delivering a full range of administration activities and support of the undertaking of all duties related to admission, identification, and safe storage of deceased bodies for post mortem examination in accordance with the service procedures.
Responsibilities:
* Your role as a Mortuary Support Worker (MSW) is to work alongside trainee and qualified Mortuary Technologists as part of the mortuary department team to provide care to deceased patients.
* The types of duties include: admitting and discharging deceased, viewing deceased to relatives, weighing and recording organs weights, washing and dressing deceased patients, cleaning the post mortem rooms, monitoring deceased’s condition.
* Acting with compassion, you will put deceased patients at the centre of all you do.
* You will communicate effectively with the mortuary team.
* This role will require you to work variable hours between 6am – 6pm Mon-Fri and some Saturdays.
* You will show courage by embracing new ways of working and doing the right thing by the people you care for, including speaking up when you have concerns.
* The post holder will be required to perform a range of routine and non-routine tasks within the mortuary, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including the Pathology Quality Policy to provide support to the mortuary manager in order to ensure a high-quality service.
* To plan, organise and carry out own routine work in all sections of the Mortuary as required by the mortuary manager and the senior mortuary technologists.
