Division Info:
The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.
Summary of Position:
Set up and operate CNC and conventional vertical honing machines to hone internal surfaces of components such as pistons, cylinders, links, or barrels to drawing specifications, selecting tooling according to knowledge of honing procedures.
Main Responsibilities:
* Obtains dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts required from job pack and instructions from machine-shop supervisor.
* Selects feed rate, honing speed, depth of cut, and honing tool for each operation.
* Measures honed workpiece for conformance to specification using dial bore clocks, borematics, etc.
* May use special surface finish inspection equipment.
Qualifications:
* High School diploma or GED equivalent and trade school, vocational education or apprenticeship.
* 2-4 years experience in work-related environment.
Skills & Abilities:
* Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacturing sketches.
* Ability to read inspection tools and knowledge of Quality Control, gauges, and dial bore clocks.
* Ability to speak, read, and write English.
* Understanding of procedures and production schedules.
* Good physical condition; able to lift heavy loads.
* Knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals, fractions and its application to the reading of drawings and measuring instruments or the calculations, and recording dimensions.
* Must be detail-oriented.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision.
