The Medical Division at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals provides Acute care across the range of medical specialities in a large modern purpose-built hospital in Wakefield, which includes a large Acute Assessment Unit, Acute Elderly Assessment Unit, Coronary Care and Acute (Respiratory) Care Unit. We also provide care for Acute Elderly Admissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of their admission at Dewsbury & District Hospital. Vacancies have arisen at Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield within the Division of Medicine for doctors equivalent to CT level. The posts will include training in all the competencies required for completion of Internal Medicine training. The post is offered on a fixed term 12 months with possible extension to 24 months, depending on successful ARCP after 12 months. Post holders will need to have evidence of achievement of foundation competencies, via current employment in a UKFPO-affiliated foundation programme or 12 months experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competencies at the time of application. Only a valid FPCC (FACD 5.2) or alternative certificate of foundation competence will be accepted as evidence. The post holders should have worked within the NHS for a minimum of 6 months in any medical or surgical speciality including general practice. We are looking for doctors to work at CT equivalent level within various speciality teams including Acute Care, Cardiology, Respiratory, Diabetes/Endocrine & Elderly Medicine teams in the management of their in-patient & out-patient workload and will participate in out-of-hours cover across both hospital sites. The CT1 and CT2 years will consist of 3 x four-month rotations per year. The post holders will participate on full shift rotas and will be required to provide a range of services. The post holders will also be encouraged to undertake continuing medical education and study leave will be available as per the Trust policy. The post holders will have the opportunity to attend departmental teaching every week. We will encourage, support, and provide the opportunity to study and practice for your post graduate exams, undertake audit/research projects, attend on-site educational programmes and simulation sessions. We will provide limited funding towards one or two courses required for completion of IMT training.
