Functioning of state of the art psychiatric inpatient facility in Lancashire. We require a motivated, dynamic and experienced qualified Clinical Psychologist to join our well-established team of Clinical Psychologists offering input to the Harbour inpatient facility at Blackpool within Lancashire Care Foundation Trust. These posts would be inputting into the older adult wards at the Harbour Hospital in Blackpool. In this role, you would be expected to input into complex patients offering direct input, consultation, and clinical leadership. As a principal psychologist in the unit, there would be an expectation for the post holder to deputize for the psychology lead alongside other 8bs in the unit. If taken on as a preceptor, you would be supported to develop competencies to work fully into a principal clinical psychology role over up to a two-year period. The expectation would be for the post holder to fully progress via a process of supported development and evaluation to reach the expected level of competency for an 8b psychologist. This would be supported by the 8c psychologist and 8b psychologists already working in the unit.
You would be joining a team of clinical psychologists at the Harbour that includes two consultant psychologists, a senior to principal preceptor, and a senior psychologist. We are a friendly, cohesive team all working in the same building and as such this is a post with lots of peer support and interaction with psychology colleagues.
Main duties of the job
We are committed to providing the best development opportunities for our staff and the post holder would have options to access continuing professional development and training. We are very willing to consider funding training in the development of skills and further qualifications in relevant treatment approaches that will benefit inpatient psychology service provision. There are also opportunities for research within this dynamic and forward-thinking service. The organisation also has very good links with the Lancaster University based Clinical Psychology Doctorate Course.
The Fylde coast area that the job is situated in is itself a dynamic and stimulating place to be. The locality has good transport links being situated adjacent to the M55 with quick access to the M6. The area also enjoys very reasonable housing costs.
As a front line hospital worker, it is essential that work is onsite with teams and patients and remote working would not be considered for this post. Enquiries about the post can be made via Dr. James Hoy (Consultant Clinical Psychologist) on 01253 447866. Visits to the unit to meet the team and discuss the post would be welcomed.
