Are you passionate about AI and eager to work on groundbreaking projects? Do you want to be a major part of a rock-star team in a rapidly growing startup, collaborate with industry leaders, and make a real impact in the legal landscape? Do you want significant ownership in a startup building something people want with real paying users and significant traction? Here's your chance!
️ About the role
We are looking for super-talented founding AI engineers to help us build state-of-the-art AI algorithms and products extremely fast. You’ll be joining the most lean, talent-dense, and fast-moving engineering team in London.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Developing production-ready AI algorithms. We have developed proprietary algorithms which greatly increase the quality of generated patents. You will be leading the development of new and improved algorithms to push the envelope of what is possible with large language models.
* Building a state-of-the-art evaluation pipeline. A robust evaluation pipeline ensures that AI outputs are high quality and objectively steers the direction of our R&D team. You will be leading the development of this pipeline and benchmarking the performance of Solve’s proprietary algorithms on large datasets.
* LLM prompt engineering. Research and implement state-of-the-art prompting methods to maximise the efficacy of our LLM models and algorithms.
About Solve Intelligence
We’re the fastest growing startup building AI products to transform how IP professionals work. We’re building an AI-powered end-to-end platform to help with every aspect of invention harvesting, patent generation, and IP portfolio management (see TechCrunch).
One year since we started Solve Intelligence as three hackers building cool stuff with AI, we’ve growing super fast. Our revenue is increasing 20-30%+ month-on-month, and we’re now selling to 100+ IP teams across the US, Europe, Asia, and South America. These include some of the largest law firms in the world such as DLA Piper, smaller boutiques, solo practitioners, tech startups, and large enterprises.
Our users love our product, reporting 50-90% efficiency improvements. WIPR recently published a case study about a Solve Intelligence customer, Volkan Hamamcıoğlu from InPera IP, who ‘has reduced patent application drafting time from 20 to 10 hours’ for his Firm by using Solve’s AI product.
We’re on a high-growth trajectory, and we’re looking for people who want to join us on the journey to building a billion-dollar company.

Who you’ll work with
Sanj (Chief Research Officer and co-founder): Sanj did his MSci in Physics at the University of Cambridge and his PhD in AI at the Gatsby Unit, UCL. He won awards at top AI conferences, worked on the R&D team at Huawei, and received widespread attention for his contributions to open-source LLM GitHub projects. He joined Magic Carpet AI as employee #4, where he developed AI strategies for trading which deployed millions of capital before being acquired by Blockchain.com.
Chris (Chief Executive Officer and co-founder): Chris did his undergrad at Imperial College, masters at the University of Cambridge, and PhD at UCL, during which he published 10+ publications and won awards in top AI conferences and journals. He has worked in leading tech organisations, including Dyson, The Alan Turing Institute, and InstaDeep before its acquisition by BioNTech.
Angus (Chief Technology Officer and co-founder): Angus did an MEng in Computer Science at the University of Bristol where he won a cyber security scholarship at GCHQ before working at Qualcomm. He then joined a London-based hedge fund, Coremont (Brevan Howard). There, he led a small team to build a greenfield trade processing platform which scaled to millions of trades per day.
Justin (Founding Member of Technical Staff): Justin studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and law at Georgetown University Law Center. Before joining Solve, he practiced law at Quarles & Brady, a top U.S. law firm, where he managed, supervised, and prosecuted global patent portfolios and counseled companies on multi-million-dollar global product and technology launches.
Daniel (Founding Full-Stack Engineer): Daniel studied Computing at Imperial College London. During his undergraduate, he intern’d at a bike rental startup where he single-handedly rebuilt the entire frontend, backend, and infrastructure of the software product which today is being used to rent and maintain 1K+ bikes across Oxford.
Tom (Founding Full-Stack Engineer): Tom did his undergrad in physics at Imperial, during which he became interested in programming. He then worked as a full-stack engineer at Redgate. He wanted to learn how computers fundamentally work, and so in his spare built emulators to replicate 1980s hardware on which he can now run classic Nintendo games.
Harry (Founding Member of Technical Staff): Harry studied Physics at the University of Bristol and then Robotics at King's College London. He is a UK & European patent attorney with extensiveexperience in every part of the patent application process, having worked at highly reputable London firms including Reddie & Grose and Dentons. More recently, Harry set up the London practice of a US law firm as their firstEuropean hire.
