PTL Validation Support Team Officer

Band 5 £29,970 - £36,483 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week contract, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the PTL Validation Team, we are looking for a new team member, who will be responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining an elective care waiting lists, delivering training in a variety of formats and acting as a central point for guidance and support relating to Referral to Treatment (RTT) rules, Trust Policies, Trust IT systems and data quality issues.
The role is to support administrative and clinical staff across the Trust to ensure that data is accurately maintained, staff are trained, updates implemented and opportunities for expansion and improvement actively pursued in support of the Trust’s key objectives of ‘Improving Patient Experience’ without risk to patient safety.
The post holder will be responsible for monitoring the in-patient, outpatient, ASI and day case waiting lists through validation of patient pathways to ensure they meet National and Local Standards. Identify variances in performance escalating to line manager and liaising with operational leads, service teams to correct pathway processing issues. The post holder will be a first line of support for the PTL administrators for Data Quality training, resolution and processing.

• Provide enhanced knowledge of 18-week referral to treatment (RTT) rules, the Patient Access Policy and other associated Trust wide policies.
• Develop and deliver training programmes, working in collaboration with Clinicians, Managers, and other stakeholders to ensure Trust administration, management and clinical staff have a clear understanding of 18-week referral to treatment (RTT) rules, the Patient Access Policy and Trust IT systems.
• Undertake validation of complex RTT pathways to ensure accuracy.
• Regularly audit pathways to highlight data quality concerns and take an active role in educating areas where data quality may be an issue.
• Provide support to staff across the Trust to understand and correctly apply RTT and diagnostic waiting times and apply outcomes to the relevant Trust systems.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of all targets and process relating to patient pathways and ensure these are integrated into the Patient Access Training Programme.
• Be a point of contact for pathway validation enquiries, providing expert guidance and support.
• Analyse activity/performance information provided by the Trust’s information department to provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews and update information regarding key issues within the Directorate. Use the information to make recommendations to improve performance in conjunction with the Operational and Administration Managers.
• Regularly create reports from IT systems to assess and review data quality issues.
• Ensure the Operational and Administration Managers are kept updated on issues that could affect speciality performance.
• Be fully conversant with Trust IT systems including (but not limited to) eCare, EDM, BigHand, Synertec, Jayex self-service kiosks and referral, acting as an expert user for the department and aligning training programmes.
• Participating in service developments, offering advice and ideas for enhancements to systems and processes.
• Review processes and explore new ways of working to maximise the service in helping to achieve and maintain Trust targets and Trust and NHS wide initiatives.
• Plan and develop a training package in collaboration with the team to ensure staff are appropriately trained to fulfil their role and competency tests are undertaken, adjusting training as appropriate to meet new system requirements.
• Ensure training materials are reviewed and updated regularly.
• Provide elective care training on the rules, policies, and IT systems in a variety of environments, including classroom and individual sessions, to staff across all levels and departments of the Trust.
• Attend meetings to support service development initiatives.
• Exercise independent judgement and initiative when problems arise, taking the appropriate action locally or liaising with stakeholders as necessary for a resolution.
• Create and amend contingency plans for the department.
• Provide information to and assist Project Groups and Committees as appropriate.
