Due to a healthy order book, there is a need for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in the successful commercial and financial management of projects and tenders within the groundworks and demolition sector.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will assist in managing costs with an end goal of maximising the project margin and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing future client relationships. Key responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting in the prompt presentation for all applications for payment and Final Accounts, including all contractual entitlements.
2. Ensuring that all payments are received in accordance with the contract terms.
3. Assisting in the preparation and presentation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) and final cost/value forecasts.
4. Involvement in procurement, negotiation, and the placing of sub-contract orders.
5. Assisting in the financial and commercial management of sub-contracts through settlement of Final Accounts.
All tasks need high-level detail and pride in presentation, especially when drafting contractual letters/notices to ensure they are presented in accordance with the contract requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will need to be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar. Additionally, you must have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience, which must have been gained while working for a main contractor or specialist subcontractor in the UK who specialise in demolition, substructure, or general civil engineering.

As this is an office-based opportunity with site visits throughout the South East, you must live within commutable distance from Ramsgate, Kent, and hold a full UK driving license.
REWARDS AND BENEFITS
For this opportunity, our client is offering a strong basic salary of £35,000 to £45,000 per annum (specifics will depend on how much experience is gained) in addition to the usual benefits associated with a large, successful contractor.
