Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the buying process, ensuring that our supply chain operates efficiently and effectively. This position requires strong negotiation skills, familiarity with various procurement systems, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to meet organisational goals.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in the procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely delivery and optimal pricing.
2. Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate contracts and terms that benefit the organisation.
3. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels.
4. Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory management to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
5. Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
6. Support logistics operations by coordinating with relevant departments to ensure smooth product flow.
7. Analyse purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.
8. Assist in developing procurement strategies that align with company objectives.
Requirements
1. Proven experience in a supply chain or purchasing role is preferred.
2. Familiarity with procurement systems such as Oracle EBS, SAP, Edwards, or AS400 is advantageous.
3. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
4. Excellent analytical skills to assess data and make informed decisions.
5. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
6. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
8. A degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
