Job overview
We are looking for a skilled & experienced learning disability nurse to support Children & Young People with complex needs within the Harrogate & Rural District, Hambleton & Richmondshire localities.
This would be an ideal post for a practicing Band 6 nurse or a competent Band 5 LD nurse, looking for career progression.
A background in community practice & experience with children & young people is ideal, but not essential.
The role is delivered across the Northallerton & Harrogate localities, actual base to be negotiated with the successful candidate, depending on preference.

Main duties of the job
A Registered Community Learning disability nurse working within the Specialist Children’s Services team providing high quality, evidence-based care to children and young people with a learning disability.
The role involves maintaining responsibility for a designated caseload of children and young people with a learning disability acting with autonomy as appropriate.
Providing specialist nursing assessments and support to implement interventions to promote the health and wellbeing of children and young people with learning disability and their families.
To positively represent the needs and rights of children and young people with learning disability, promoting equality and assisting access to NHS and any other services.
To take responsibility as required in the absence of the lead nurse including day-to-day management of the learning disability nursing team and the supervision and development of registered and non-registered staff.
The post holder will work as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team and with partnership agencies to provide integrated children’s services in line with current policy and best practice to maintain excellent working relationships between families and carers, universal and specialist services, education, voluntary and private organisations.
The post-holder will contribute towards the continual development of Specialist Children’s Services and ensure high standards of clinical practice are maintained and monitored.

* Registered Nurse Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
* Minimum of two years post-registration experience.
