MHR is recruiting for a Head of Infrastructure to join its enterprise IT function.
MHR are a Software, Technical Services, Managed Services and Hosting organisation who own and operate private data centres. The opportunity to collaborate, learn and lead teams in an environment that is based around real infrastructure rather than cloud provisioned resources. In this role, you will oversee and maintain three data centres, managing the network, infrastructure, and security systems that support MHR's entire digital landscape. You will be instrumental in ensuring seamless, secure internal and external connectivity for 900 employees, while protecting the data and services relied upon by 3.5 million public-facing application users and 1,200 customers who depend on MHR’s managed HR, payroll, and financial systems.
Role responsibilities:
1. Leading a small team of IT technical specialists to:
2. Collaborate with peers and the IT Director to define an infrastructure strategy aligned with the overall IT strategy, ensuring efficient and cost-effective solutions to meet business objectives.
3. Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, load balancers, storage, and computing systems, ensuring availability, resilience, and security in line with service level agreements and business requirements.
4. Contribute to the management of both physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V), ensuring their availability and security according to service level agreements and business needs.
5. Deploy, configure, and maintain security and monitoring tools, such as NDR, web proxies, and firewall policy management.
6. Define and manage changes to the existing IT infrastructure, as well as design and implement new infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
7. Provide support for incident management to swiftly restore business operations, which may involve working outside standard hours when necessary.
8. Manage the datacentre estate alongside the Head of Internal IT and Head of Cloud Services, ensuring continuity of power, cooling, and monitoring.
9. Oversee the delivery of major IT infrastructure projects.
10. Manage third-party service providers, ensuring they meet contractual service levels.
11. Work with the IT Director to manage the budget for IT infrastructure expenditure.
About you:
1. You will have experience leading and managing IT and technical teams to perform to their best potential, including coaching, training and development.
2. You are someone who has in-depth experience of delivering infrastructure services and who is also able to communicate and promote these services to stakeholders for the purposes of business enablement and improvement.
